A really big egg

evidently, this is not a big deal and young hens lay weird eggs sometimes. But OUCHY! yes, it did have two yolks.

Monday Morning Random Pictures

WE HAVE CHICKENS!!!!

We got 12 hens and one rooster today. They are Rhode Island Whites and they are about 7 months old and all have begun laying. (although they may not lay too much at first from the shock of moving) They are so sweet and pretty. We named the rooster The Dude. All of the girls are named Hen.
We drove over to a ranch in Fort Davis. Paul crawled into the chicken pen and passed (grabbed both feet with one hand and the neck in the other) the birds to Regina who stuffed them into the 2 dog carriers we brought up to hold the chickens on the way back. I meant to get pictures of the whole process, but you know how that goes. I did finally get one picture of the chicken pens in the distance to get a sense of where the chickens came from. It was gorgeous there!
